Police in Uganda killed a protester on the second day of a demonstration against the arrest of opposition leader Kizza Besigye.
Besigye faces charges of rape and treason, reports the BBC. The protesters say the charges are an effort to stop him from challenging President Yoweri Museveni in elections next year.
International donors have withheld some aid to Uganda after the constitution was amended to allow Museveni to run for a third term, the report said.
Besigye, once a physician to Museveni, has denied allegations that he is linked to rebel groups. The U.S.-based Human Rights Watch has urged the Ugandan high court to grant Besigye bail to show his arrest is not "politically motivated".
